Baseball Betting
Author: andrew hall smith
Baseball betting is an afterthought to most proletarian sports bettors. The season is about seven months long and the record keeping becomes too overwhelming for the average baseball bettor. To be a constant winner betting baseball, one must keep track of stats for over 150 starting pitchers, 50-75 key relief pitchers, and of course all of the umpires. You must be willing to keep up to date on weather reports, key matchups, and home/away tendencies of all 31 professional baseball teams. Quite frankly for the baseball bettor mlb baseball betting is the most difficult sport to collect a long term profit. On the other hand for the astute bettor, it can be the most profitable game out there.
Whether you are just starting out MLB baseball betting or are a seasoned vet, madduxsports.com has you covered with all the information you need to succeed this year.
Our baseball section here covers such things as odds, ats standings, and the Baseball betting line explained. Most of you understand how the odds work but for those that don't check out the baseball odds page, which will also give you live odds for today's games.

would the martingale system work in a betting shop?
if you kept doubling up your bets and bet on odds of 2/1 or 3/1 would this be better than betting in a casino using the martingale system?
to pdq, i don’t mean betting on longer odds each time. i mean sticking to small odds maximum of 3/1
and i only mean on small stakes as well not risking mortage or any thing like that
No of course not.
If you were to look at the math, you’d see that ultimately, in order to profit, you’d still need to win the same number of bets as you would if you were keeping your bets the same. At first it doesn’t seem like that, it seems like you can just lose most of your bets and catch up with one big one. But look at the big picture. For each individual bet, the odds are against you, so:
- you’re losing most of your 1st bets
- losing most of your 2nd, 3rd, etc. bets
- losing most of your final bets
So you’re not making money from any of the bets in your sequence. And when you reach the final bet, most of the time you lose and have to eat your losses. In the long run you lose exactly the same amount you would have, had you kept all your bets the same (whatever the average bet of your martingale is).
Is online betting illegal in the states?
I know online poker is illegal in most states but is online betting or betting through bookmakers illegal?
Yes, but I’m not sure it’s well enforced. They are still arguing about how, or if to control the internet.
What are teasers in online sports betting?
I see this term used a lot in online sports betting teaser betting. What kind of betting is this?
Mostly used in football. Bottom line is you pick multiple games, and get added points added to the teams you pick, but you have to win all the games. Because of the added points, the games look so good, it’s a tease.
For example, you might find the Packers -8 vs the Lions, and the Cowboys -7 vs the Redskins.
Well, you could do a 6 point Teaser on the Packers and Cowboys. Then GB is only -2, and Dallas only -1 (because you are getting 6 points). Looks tempting, doesn’t it?
Depending on the site will depend on the odds you give up on these types of bets. They are sucker plays… but I admit I will do them once in awhile.
What is string betting and how is it preventable?
I read up on it but still don’t exactly understand what the differences are between string betting and normal betting (raising, etc). Can someone put it in more simpler terms so I can understand it better? And what exactly is so wrong with it that makes it illegal?
It’s illegal, because if a player says raise, and puts in 100, he then sees the reaction of the next player (or other players)… maybe he sees that the next guy is going to call… so then he slides in 300 more.
Can’t do that. Gotta put the 400 in at the same time.
